Frosty Morning
We have been away quite a lot recently, hence the lack of posts. However, I had a walk round the meadows yesterday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning with quite a hard frost. The pond was completely frozen over so not much to see there. In the central hedge there was a small flock of Redwings and a few Blackbirds mixed in. In fact as I walked around I started to count the Blackbirds and found that there were between 30 and 40, mainly in the central hedge and the hedge along the border with the railway track. This number is far higher than I counted in the summer and reflects the abundance of berries in the hedges this year. Many of the Blackbirds are undoubtedly of Continental/Scandinavian origin and have arrived in the UK along with the Redwings and Fieldfares to take advantage of our milder winters.
