First Butterflies

Yesterday morning all the usual birds were singing and I also saw two Small Tortoiseshell butterflies, my first on the Meadows this year.   I had a good look at the pond and was puzzled as to why there seems to be no tadpoles at all. Earlier there was a mass of frog spawn  which should now have produced thousands of tadpoles, but where are they?
