First few dragonflies

Last Saturday I found an Azure damselfly and a Broad-bodied Chaser dragonfly around the pond. Today there were two Broad-bodied Chasers. It seems a very slow start to the dragonfly season and I suspect not many larvae managed to survive the pond drying out last year. It may be better next year now that the pond is a bit deeper in places. There were plenty of birds around though with Chiffchaffs being especially busy finding food for their young.
