Gatekeeper
All the usual butterflies this morning, Small and Large Skipper, Meadow Brown, Small Tortoiseshell, Large White and a new one for me on the Meadows, a Gatekeeper. There was a juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker in the big oak tree and newly fledged Goldfinches were being fed in the same tree. House Martins were busy feeding over the area as were a party of Swifts. These were probably from the small Swift colony on Brown Lees chapel. A Broad-bodied Chaser dragonfly was seen well away from the scrape, and another brown coloured hawker type dragonfly was seen again, but not identified.
