Pond Work

I had a look around yesterday morning and I notice that someone has been digging out the pond. It has also rained quite a bit so there is now some water. A Brown Hawker and Common Darter dragonflies were making the most of the rejuvenated pond. Butterfly numbers are well down on last year, mainly due to the very cold spring and early summer. Birds are fairing a bit better with some late broods, especially Blackbirds, Wrens and Goldfinches.
I have heard a report of Grass Snakes. I have not seen them myself but that is really good news if true.
