At last a warm, sunny, dry day. Even though the pond is dry there was still a male Brown Hawker dragonfly patrolling the meadows. Its a very large unmistakable dragonfly which when seen in flight looks entirely brown, even the wings. Its also as big as a small bird such as a wren or goldcrest, so they are easy to see.
There were however lots of butterflies, the best day this year so far. I counted 20+ Small Skipper, 20+ Meadow Brown, 10+ Gatekeeper, 3 Small White and a Small Tortoiseshell.
