Signs of Spring

I've not managed many visits this winter, but this morning was showing many signs that spring is on the way.
The pond is obviously full of water after all the rain, but it also has a very large mass of frogspawn in the middle. I never seem to see all that many frogs on the meadows but there are obviously lots of them judging by the amount of frogspawn they have produced.
The birds were all in full song, blue tits, great tits, Long-tailed tits, nuthatch, blackbirds, song thrush and robin could all be heard. A jay and magpie were busy harassing each other and several pairs of dunnocks were nest building. A lovely male reed bunting was singing near the pond but perhaps the star birds of the morning was a small mixed flock of siskins and lesser redpolls in the trees near the railway line. This is the first time I have recorded either of these species on the meadows.
