The new pond dipping platform
The new pond dipping platform has been installed, and it has made a big difference to the accessibility of the pond. It is surprising how many creatures besides humans value a structure like this. The material heats up in the sunshine and retains enough warmth for many insects and reptiles to bask on the surface. Common Darter dragonflies have already been seen on the platform, and this morning I found two Grey Wagtails perched on it.

Great photos, should be even better for the wildlife when we have the scrape dug out a little more
